Privacy Policy for AllRecorder
Effective Date: April 22, 2026
1. Introduction
AllRecorder ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application collects, uses, and safeguards your data.
AllRecorder is designed with an offline-first approach for its core recording and transcription features. We prioritize your privacy by processing sensitive media (audio & video) data directly on your device using On-Device Artificial Intelligence (AI).
2. Information We Collect and Permissions
To provide our services, we require specific permissions on your Android device. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- Microphone (
RECORD_AUDIO) & Camera (CAMERA)
- Why we need it: To record audio and video for your notes, meetings, and lectures.
- How it is used: Audio and video data are captured and written directly to your device’s local storage. Data is processed locally by our transcription engine. We do not listen to or view your recordings, and they are never uploaded to our servers.
- Storage (
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)
- Why we need it: To save your recordings, allow you to import audio and video files, and scan specific "Watched Folders" for new content.
- How it is used: We only access files you explicitly create within the app, select for import, or place in folders you have designated for automatic scanning.
- Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
- Why we need it: To display a persistent notification while recording or processing media, ensuring you are always aware of active background tasks.
- Biometrics / App Lock
- Why we need it: To securely lock your recordings and app access.
- How it is used: Biometric authentication (like fingerprint or face unlock) is handled securely by the Android OS. We do not collect, store, or have access to your biometric data.
3. On-Device AI and Local Processing
AllRecorder utilizes powerful local processing technologies to deliver advanced features without compromising the privacy of your recordings:
- Transcription & Summarization: We use high-performance on-device AI models to convert speech to text and generate summaries from your audio and video. This processing happens entirely on your phone.
- Media Intelligence: Features like Silence Removal and Speaker Identification are powered by local machine learning algorithms that analyze audio patterns directly on your device.
- Voice Tools: Our Voice Changer and Text-to-Speech (TTS) features utilize local audio synthesis and processing engines.
- Smart Search: We employ local embedding models to enable Semantic Search, allowing you to find recordings by their meaning rather than just keywords.
Data Safety: Because all processing happens on your phone, your raw media (audio/video), transcripts, and generated metadata remain in your control. They are not sent to any remote server for analysis.
4. Authentication, Analytics, and Internet Usage
While core processing is offline, AllRecorder uses the internet for the following features:
- Analytics & Crash Reporting: We use Firebase Analytics and crash reporting tools to understand how users interact with our app and to diagnose technical issues. This helps us identify bugs and improve features. This data is aggregated and does not include any of your audio/video recordings or transcripts.
- In-App Purchases: We use Google Play Billing to process payments for premium features. Payment information is handled entirely by Google Play; we do not collect or store your payment details.
- Resource Downloads: The app connects to the internet to download necessary runtime components, such as AI model weights or voice packages, from public repositories.
- Google Drive Cloud Sync (Optional): If you enable the Cloud Storage feature, AllRecorder connects to your personal Google Drive account to back up and restore your recordings. See Section 5 below for full details.
5. Cloud Storage (Google Drive Sync)
AllRecorder offers an optional Google Drive sync feature for backing up and restoring recordings. This feature is entirely opt-in and disabled by default.
- Your Account, Your Data: When enabled, recordings are stored in a dedicated "AllRecorder Backups" folder inside your own Google Drive. Files are uploaded directly from your device to your personal Google Drive storage. We (the app developers) have no access to your Google Drive, your recordings, or any data stored there.
- Minimal Permission Scope: AllRecorder requests only the
drive.file OAuth scope, which limits the app to accessing only files it created. It cannot read, modify, or access any other files in your Google Drive.
- No Intermediate Servers: Your recordings are transferred directly between your device and Google Drive. They are never routed through, stored on, or processed by any server operated by us.
- Metadata Preservation: Alongside each recording, a companion metadata file (.meta.json) is stored containing transcripts, tags, summaries, and folder assignments. This metadata is also stored exclusively in your Google Drive and is not accessible to us.
- Encrypted Files: If you use the Secure Folder, encrypted (.locked) files are backed up in their encrypted form. The encryption key never leaves your device.
- Revocation: You can disable Cloud Storage at any time from Settings. This signs you out and stops all future syncing. Files already in your Google Drive remain under your control and can be managed at drive.google.com.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Local Data: Your recordings and transcripts are stored locally on your device in the app's database and file directory. You have full control. You can delete individual recordings or use the "Auto-Delete" feature in Settings to automatically remove files older than a set number of days. If you uninstall AllRecorder, all data stored within the app's private directory is permanently deleted by the Android system.
Cloud Data: If you have enabled Google Drive sync, copies of your recordings exist in your personal Google Drive. Deleting a recording locally will also remove it from Google Drive during the next sync. If you uninstall the app, files in your Google Drive will remain until you manually delete them. You can manage these files at any time by visiting the "AllRecorder Backups" folder in your Google Drive.
7. Third-Party Services
We do not use third-party advertising networks to display ads. We utilize the following third-party services to power specific app functionalities:
- Google Play Services (for App Distribution and Billing)
- Google Firebase (for Analytics, and Crash Reporting)
- Google Drive API (for optional Cloud Storage sync — limited to the
drive.file scope, accessing only files created by the app)
- Public Repositories (like GitHub or Hugging Face, for downloading AI models)
When the app interacts with these services, they may collect standard data such as your IP address or device identifiers in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this Privacy Policy.
